Visita a Ourense
La ciudad de Ourense es conocida por sus fuentes termales y se ha convertido en la Capital Termal de Galicia, siendo la segunda ciudad de Europa en número de fuentes termales. Destacan los milenarios manantiales de As Burgas cuyas aguas manan a 69º y con un caudal de 300 litros por minuto. Los orígenes de Ourense se remontan a época romana y a lo largo de sus dos mil años de historia se ha ido convirtiendo en una ciudad moderna cuajada de monumentos de diferentes épocas y estilos dignos de ser visitados. Os proponemos un paseo peatonal por sus callejuelas y plazas cargadas de encanto, la curiosa e inclinada Plaza Mayor con el Ayuntamiento, el Paseo del Espolón y el Palacio Episcopal, hoy sede del Museo Provincial. La iglesia de Santa María Madre, quizás el templo más antiguo de la ciudad o la barroca iglesia de Santa Eufemia y por supuesto su Catedral con el Pórtico del Paraíso que conserva su policromía, la Capilla del Santo Cristo, con su exuberante decoración barroca, el Altar Mayor obra del gran maestro Cornelius de Holanda , son piezas imprescindibles en esta visita, sin olvidarnos de descubrir los curiosos juegos de mesa o una de las más interesantes colecciones de arte funerario medieval que inundan el templo. Completaremos la visita con una panorámica por las Riberas del Río Miño donde podremos descubrir el “Paseo de las Ninfas”, los miradores y los puentes Romano y del Milenio, prodigios de la ingeniería pasada y presente. *Catedral: consultar horarios y precios de la visita.
The city of Ourense is known for its thermal springs and has become the Thermal Capital of Galicia, being the second city in Europe in number of hot springs. The thousand-year-old springs of As Burgas stand out, whose waters flow at 69º and with a flow of 300 liters per minute. The origins of Ourense go back to Roman times and throughout its two thousand years of history it has become a modern city full of monuments from different periods and styles worth visiting. Walking tour: We propose a pedestrian walk through its charming streets and squares, the curious and inclined Council Squeare with the Town Hall and the Episcopal Palace, today the Provincial Museum. The Santa María Madre church, perhaps the oldest temple in the city or the baroque Santa Eufemia church and The Romanic Cathedral* was building in the XII th. Century with the Porch of the Paradise that preserves its polychrome, Holy Christ Chapel , with its exuberant baroque decoration, the main altarpice by of the great master Cornelius de Holanda, are essential pieces on this visit, without forgetting to discover the curious board games or one of the most interesting collections of medieval funerary art.
